Bosco has been fed a raw diet since he was about 14 weeks old. Warlock and Aerial were switched to raw in March 2003 when they were approaching 5 years old, and all other animals get switched right away as soon as they enter the house.While researching the diet, it helped me to see exactly what others with GSDs were feeding. This page will hopefully help newcomers to the diet in the same way that other GSD owners' pages helped me.
First, let's talk about research. Feeding a dog or cat is really pretty easy; however, most of us grew up feeding commercial dog food, and really have no clue what our dog should eat. That doesn't mean we can't learn though! There are several books, websites, and mailing lists available for you to learn from. The main goal is to replicate what a wild dog would eat. Most of us cannot give our dogs freshly killed whole carcasses, so we have to come up with the best alternative.
